What is a Virtual Assistant and why do I need one?

A Virtual Assistant or VA, is a self-employed person, who works remotely and offers a range of business support services. Different VA’s offer different services depending on their background and skill set.

A VA is there to take the strain off of you. You can handover time consuming, challenging or even just boring tasks that clog up your valuable time. These are all important and essential tasks but they can take you away from delivering the core part of your business, the part you are really good at and enjoy doing. Freeing up time can give you the work life balance that you need and the energy to focus and get the results you deserve in your business.

All about me...

Well I will start with my name- I’m Mhairi! That often stops people in their tracks, so to help you out it is pronounced “Varry” and it's Scottish. I live (and work) just outside Tenbury Wells in Worcestershire.

I have worked from home for what feels like forever, about 13 years. My background is in Events, Project, Product and Account Management, mostly in the retail sector, but in 2013 I started up my own Glamping Business! It’s a long story but I still run a glamping enterprise along side my VA work which I started in 2022 and I now offer support services to hospitality and other small businesses.

I’m passionate about doing a good job, delivering a great service and helping others succeed.

What services can I offer?

Well the list is quite long and services can be tailored to suit you and your business. I can manage emails, provide social media support, help with your website, draft newsletters or blogs, perform research, create and edit documents, data entry and basic bookkeeping and invoicing!

I particularly like helping other accommodation businesses and offer services such as customer communications, creating your digital guide book, rate management and social media and blog activity to support direct bookings.

How can you work with me?

If you want to work with me the first thing we need is a good old chat,  more formally called  a “Discovery Call”. This is where we chat about your business and what help you need. It helps you get a feel for me and helps me really understand what work and time will be involved to support you.

I offer a range of services and different pricing structures from an hourly rate through to retainers and package deals.

Following on from that I will send you a proposal and pricing and if you are happy, we then complete a project sheet and sign some T’s and C’s. The work is invoiced and started. Your time is free to do something else while essential tasks are still being ticked off the “to do” list!
